Projects
School Projects Second Chance supports 5 kindergartens and 2 middle
schools in the Berceni community;. Through our contacts with the school
directors and teachers we make a shortlist of the various needs/wishes and
depending on the available resources (within our organization as well as in
the community) we make things happen.
- Moara Noua Kindergarten - In September 2007 our volunteer Lori Lewis teached English for Moara Noua kids successfully. Her daughter Kaila was simultaneously run a fund raising activity with her friends at the American International School of Bucharest and Second Chance match funds to built a playground on the school's premises.
- Computer labs - With support from different organizations, sponsors and international schools we manage to open in the village 3 computer labs witch are very much appreciated by all local kids. We are collecting (used/new) computers, printers, scaners and office funiture (chairs, desks, cupboards) to create new computer labs with internet connection in all other schools of the village and to replace old computers we previously installed.
- School Supplies - Every school in Berceni gets a minimum of school supplies from the government if the budget allows for it. Hobby materials, educational or sports materials and books or toys are never provided. Second Chance collects these items and distributes to all the schools. We run school-to-school projects for which schools in Bucharest and abroad raise money, and we buy the necessary supplies for the schools and we also appreciate individual donations.
Little London School of Bucuresti adopted Catunu Kindergarden in 2009 and now they run together different activities that provides both parties with lots of good experiences. Maybe your school wants to join?
